Rich Campbell is a counselor, life coach, and helper to many! Today he joins the show talking to us about counseling, the bible, the brain, and the mind. Stay tuned to learn how you can develop a healthy subconscious and belief system, and how to encourage your loved ones in that too.

Introduction to Rich Campbell (2:00)

Rich has a unique and eclectic background. At 16 years old, he became a Christ follower by watching Billy Graham on TV and grew in the faith by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in college. It’s been an adventurous journey in his lifetime academically, family wise, and vocationally so far. Rich also shares that he’s noticed one season of life will often prepare us for the next season in life ahead.

Human Complexities (3:15)

Carrie and Rich chat on how the brain and mind work. Scripture has many different perspectives on it which Rich finds particularly interesting. When we dive deep into looking at the brain and how God made us, it’s incredible. In the space between our ears, God has placed 100 billion brain cells. There is more mathematical complexity in the space between our ears than there is in the known universe. Wow!

Created in God's Image (4:30)

The animals God created can build to a level of instinct but often times they don't create beyond a certain level of instinct, while humans do. God is a wonderful creator and he gave us a powerful organ called the mind, which allows us to create with intricate detail and imagination.

A Heart for People (5:30)

Rich has a heart to help people understand the way our mind works so we can know who God created us to be and so we can become the best version of ourselves. He’s learned a lot from journeying with people through life coaching and therapy.

Therapy and Life Coaching (7:00)

Rich does therapy and life coaching from the perspective of having vision and providing perspective on what it is that you’re thinking. He believes it’s important to know why we believe what we believe, for this propels us in everything we do.

Proverbs 4:23 (8:00)

Proverbs 4:23 says, “guard your heart above all else, for it is the wellspring of life”. Whether you believe you can or you can't, you're probably right. We need to be mindful of what thoughts we allow in our minds to circulate, and if those thoughts align ourselves into who God made us to be.

Find a Cheerleader (10:00)

It’s so important to have support and coaching to spur you on! Who are the people that encourage you to grow and believe in what you’re capable of? As much as we should be mindful about what others are saying, we should be mindful about what we are telling ourselves too.

Overcoming Challenging Relationships (13:00)

It’s hard to believe what we’re truly capable of when surrounded by negative people and challenging relationships. Rich suggests coming back to the root of it all asking yourself first, “why am I surrounding myself around these people?” We are meant to be valued and it is vital to surround oneself around people that see value in you if at all possible. At the same time, when working through changing a belief system, it may be helpful to have a coach or support to help you correct those parts of yourself wrestling to see your true worth.

Staggering Complexities (14:20)

The conscious mind can process about 2,000 bits of information per second and the subconscious mind can process about 4 billion bits of information as well. Beliefs about ourselves mostly reside in the subconscious part of our mind, that’s why getting to the root of our deeper belief systems and issues is crucial.

True Freedom (16:00)

True freedom comes when we find belief systems that don't line up, wrestle with it, and take our process to God.

Parental Wisdom (18:00)

Carrie asks Rich to elaborate on ways parents can help children develop a healthy subconscious. Rich encourages listeners to be mindful of what they are teaching their kids through words and by example on a daily basis. One way to be mindful of this is by taking a moment to picture your child being interviewed as an adult and the interviewer asking, “what's the most important thing your dad or mom taught you growing up?” What do you honestly think that picture would look like? We encourage you to be the example you desire for your kids to glean from!

Time to Reframe (21:30)

Reframing our thought patterns is a worthwhile investment. Rich shares several reflective questions to ask yourself to help foster an awareness of certain belief patterns in your life.

Resting in the Unknown (22:55)

Life doesn't always make sense and that is okay. Often times we try to make sense of things that are beyond our ability to respond. It’s important to accept what can and can’t be understood in this lifetime.

Surrender (25:00)

Do you have a thought pattern or behavior you know isn’t life giving? If it’s not working, surrender it! Ask God for a new thought pattern, ask Him for help to develop that new thought pattern too. He is faithful.

Julia Winston is the CEO and leadership strategist at BRAVE Leadership consulting. She has worked for many individuals and corporations, holds two coaching certifications, and a masters degree in human resource development. Her passion is for kingdom women to rise in the workplace. Grab your pen and paper and take notes for what Julia has to say for how you can make a greater impact in the workplace too!

Introduction to Julia Winston (2:15)

Julia grew up in the church in the inner city of Baltimore, Maryland. At an early age she came into relationship with God based our of fear, afraid that if she didn’t do what was right, God may of come after her. As Julia grew in the faith she realized God was not this big man in the sky waiting to pound on her head, rather the trinity and love of the Father was beautiful.

Made for Relationship (4:00)

It was through Julia's relationship with Jesus that she really found who she was.

BRAVE Leadership Consulting and Kingdom Executive Unleashed  (5:35)

Julia helps Christian women rise to new levels of impact, influence, and income in their workplace. Some of her greatest spiritual advances came through work related things and she is passionate about helping women in this realm of influence too.

The Story of Joshua (7:00)

Joshua, the biblical character had a mandate to get up and lead people into the promised land and this was no easy task. Sometimes like Joshua, we are called to fight through seasons of life and different circumstances to help create a new standard, including helping others rise to that new standard too!

Catalyst to Spiritual Growth (8:30)

For some of us, our professional life is the very place God has in mind for us to grow spiritually too. God is calling some of us to the workplace not just to be there, but to actually have an impact, to have leadership positions, and to change industries with a kingdom focus. You are not alone in this and Julia is here to help you cultivate that calling.

Ambition Makes A Difference (10:15)

Ambition is not a bad word, God has given us ambition for a reason. The enemy has a bad habit of taking anything good God has created and tries to kill, steal, and destroy any part of it he can. In many ways, it seems ambition for women has been stolen by the enemy. As professional, Christian women in the Church, sometimes we’ve been told that we can’t work, rather we should be a stay at home mom or that we need to tone our spirituality in the workplace down. This is simply not true and it’s time to take our ambition back!

The Deborah Dilemma (13:45)

Deborah was a woman in the book of Judges who was a professional, military strategist to the king, a spiritual leader, a wife, mother, and prophet of Israel. There was no indication that these different roles she had clashed, in fact it seemed like she did great! Jael, is also a woman in the book of Judges who had a leadership role outside of the house. Both of these women who worked inside and outside of the home were used in tandem to accomplish God’s will. This is the same for today, be who God created you to be, not what your culture says you should be!

Inspired (15:00)

Carrie shares how she used to feel like she had to tone down her passion for business within the church four walls. Julia’s encouragement to be who God created you to be, not what the culture says, inspired Carrie to embrace the role she has in business no matter what.

Raising Up His Daughters (16:00)

God is in the process of raising up His daughters and is using Julia to help steward that in mighty ways.

Greater Impact (18:45)

In order to make a greater impact, as women in the workplace we need to rise in greater influence. One way to gain an influence is by going in with the heart posture of serving those who are in your industry.

Problem Solved (20:00)

Because Joseph and Daniel in Biblical times solved some major problems, this allowed them to have a greater impact and influence. When you make a positive impact, often times opportunities will come to speak into people’s lives spiritually.

Acronym for RISE (22:30)

Julia shares on what the acronym for RISE stands for. The first letter “R” stands for “Realize your divine mandate for work”. We will never understand our purpose apart from God so in order to find that purpose, we must seek God first and that's on us to do.

"I" in RISE (25:30)

Take inventory of your tool kit and spiritual gifts. What gets you passionate? Ask God what He would like you to do with those passions.

"S" in Rise (26:45)

Serve your industry. God did not place you in the workplace just to complain, you are there to serve the people you work for. We are made to serve our realm of influence with solutions. What’s a problem you can help solve with where you’re at today? Ask the Holy Spirit for help in this too!

"E" in Rise (28:30)

Enlarge your circle of industry. It’s important to widen your network of influence with people that can offer you wisdom, new connections, and encouragement. Make sure you have these types of people in your spiritual and professional life.

Great Provider (32:00)

When you are determined to find and fulfill the mission God’s given you, He’s obligated to provide resources for you in return! There is a favor from God on other people for the mission He’s called you to. Be encouraged, friend!

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made (33:30)

Let us disregard and cast off guilt about being working mothers and having ambition. If God has wired you this way, it is good. There is no glass ceiling in the kingdom and we have an audience of one before the Lord.

Speak Up (34:45)

If God has placed you in a position to speak, speak! It does not matter what the ratio of men to women is, speak up.

Free Training (36:45)

Are you interested in learning more about how you can rise to greater positions of impact, influence, and income at work without fasting, fighting or faking it? Check out this great resource here.

Importance of Identity (38:00)

It is so important to know whose you are and where you come from. Julia suggest for women listening on the show today, to write out an identity statement declaring who you are and who God says you are. When we know who we are in Christ, we are then able to walk into a room knowing that we’re there for a reason. True confidence comes from our perfect heavenly Father.

Kailey Mattarella is the founder of Joy Makers Project, a platform organization focusing on spreading joy in tangible ways through random acts of kindness and unexpected gift giving, all while encouraging others to do the same. Listeners on the show today will be empowered on how to be more outward focused in their everyday lives.

Introduction to Kailey Mattarella (1:50)

Kailey is 24 years old, currently living in Holland Michigan, working as the content manager for the She Walks In Truth podcast, and is in the process of building an organization called Joy Makers Project. Kailey has a passion for spreading tangible joy and sharing the Father's love to everyone and anyone around.

Practicing God's Presence (3:00)

In our everyday busyness of life, sometimes we are not aware of the presence of God. Carrie shares how it’s so important to be intentional in our walk with knowing He is here, He does guide, and He does place people in front of us everyday with great purpose in mind.

See the One (4:30)

Jesus was a master of one to one time with individuals. He knew the specific needs of their lives and took time to talk to them and teach them. Joy Makers Project tagline is “spreading joy, one person at a time”, and it is their goal to show people they are loved, seen, and valued.

The Background (5:20)

Kailey went on an 11 month mission’s trip this past year and during this time sought the Lord on different dreams and ambitions she had. One day she felt as if God asked her, “Kailey what would you be doing if money didn’t matter?” She thought to herself how cool it would be to spread joy in creative ways, and this is where the idea of Joy Makers Project first came about. We never know how one small act of kindness can change someone's day or change the trajectory of someone's life. Let’s be quick to help people feel noticed, cared for, and valued, all while pointing people to the source of true joy, that being Jesus Christ alone.

Dreaming into Reality (6:40)

Upon returning from the states, Kailey took a risk and pursued flexible, part time employment instead of getting a more secure job so that she could create space for growing Joy Makers Project and the ministry dreams God laid on her heart.

Finding the Name (7:12)

Kailey knew the name of her dream job would have something to do with joy in it, partly because that is a gift many people have called out in her and because of that, she desired to share that gift to the world. As Kailey had been exploring different name options, a close friend of hers one day said, “what about Joy Makers” which eventually led to the name, Joy Makers Project.

A Year of Discovery (9:35)

Sometimes we get so caught up in the details that we don’t actually move forward. God will give you what you need when you need it. Carrie encourages listeners to pay attention to what people say about you and who you are created to be, then take it to the Lord. Perhaps giftings people call out in you is something God is calling you into doing.

Spreading Joy (11:00)

A big part of Joy Makers Project is helping to equip people spread joy in creative ways. This ministry has done random acts of kindness at laundromats, parks, bus stops, and so much more.

Joy Makers Outreach (13:00)

Joy Makers Outreach is a space created for people to come together and spread joy in creative ways to the local community every Wednesday evening. Each outreach night has a unique theme and is structured into thirds. First, there is a time equipping and training, second, a time of going out and blessing the local community, and third, a time of coming back for a debriefing period to check in and see how that outreach experience went. Kailey has been able to spread the word about this weekly outreach by speaking at her local church as well as word of mouth.

Lifestyle Christianity (16:00)

People are craving community and Joy Makers Outreach provides something unique and different from a typical bible study. While bible studies are important, so is being sent out into the local community. God has commissioned us to go and share His love and make disciples. It’s so important to walk in that lifestyle of love!

Joy Story Cardstock (17:45)

Joy story cardstock is a resource for people who want to partner with Joy Makers Project. This cardstock is meant to be attached to any gift or random act of kindness someone does to help create a connecting point and way to learn more about this movement. Carrie shares several ideas on how listeners could spread joy. Want to purchase Joy story cardstock? Click here.

The Conspiracy of Kindness (18:00)

Random acts of kindness can do so much for a community and individuals. On average, it may take non believers five significant spiritual encounters in their life before they give their lives to Christ. Just one act of kindness can be one of those significant encounters a person may need. Kailey shares how the book called “Conspiracy of Kindness” has taught her so much when it comes to servant evangelism and the importance of blessing others in tangible ways. Want to purchase the book? Click here.

Partnership (21:10)

Coming alongside each other is so important and when it comes to spreading joy, more people on board the better! We encourage you to go and do your own random act of kindness then tag Joy Makers Project on Instagram or Facebook. Kailey shares that listeners can help grow this movement by purchasing joy story cardstock, subscribing to the weekly joy story emails, liking Joy Makers Project on social media, and spreading the word. Do you have an idea for Joy Makers Project? Feel free to reach out and share!

Joy is Contagious (23:22)

Kailey shares several special moments she's had so far when going out and spreading joy in her local community. The first story she shares is about a time that she went into a local grocery store and bombarded a bathroom with sticky note encouragement at 10:00 pm at night. While putting sticky notes on the bathroom mirror, one woman approached her and was touched, sharing that it was an answer to prayer to meet someone who loves the Lord and was doing something about it too. One more story Kailey had was about meeting a group of teenagers when dropping off 200 pennies at the wishing well in downtown Holland, Michigan. This group of teenagers were so inspired that one of the gals reached out several days later and shared that she was going to spread joy in her local community now too.

The Multiplication Business (26:45)

God is in the multiplication business and may we never underestimate what one simple act of kindness could do or how that may inspire another person to go out and do the same.

Support Joy Makers Project (27:00)

There are so many ways you can partner with Joy Makers Project. Whether that be through spreading the word, prayer, monthly financial support, or becoming a joy maker yourself, any involvement is helpful!

Sarah Kallies is seeker of truth, mental illness fighter, singer, and much more! Today she joins the show to equip the church on how to walk with people through all seasons of life. Listen and be blessed as Sarah openly shares her story.

Introduction to Sarah Kallies (2:15)

Sarah’s life is marked by a fierce love for Jesus. She grew up as a missionary kid having many international experiences and at 3 months old, her family moved to Israel. After living in Thailand for some time, she eventually made her way to Minnesota.

A Lifetime of Challenges (4:00)

From a very early age, Sarah was mentally ill. At age 13 she attempted suicide at a boarding school and her second suicide attempt took place when she was 19 or 20 years old. Sarah’s most recent suicide attempt was this past summer and on top of these challenging times, she was also sexually assaulted by a stranger in her young adult years. Sarah shares how many people within the church don’t quite understand how you can be walking with Jesus and still suffer severe mental illness.

Vulnerability Fosters Growth (7:00)

Sarah talks openly about her mental health problems because she desires to create a safe place for open dialogue to help others. Her heart is to be an addition to the church, offering open arms and an open mind to hear people out.

Contending with Mental Illness (7:45)

The word says when we come to God and ask, we will be forgiven and healed! Sarah used to say she suffered from mental illness but now she says that she contends with it. Check out Mathew 7:7 for a biblical reference.

People with Stories (8:45)

Sarah mentions that her time spent in a psych ward was one of the best places she could have been. She noticed the people who are sometimes stereotyped as the trash of society, are beautiful people with many stories, resilience, and experiences to share.

Identity in Christ (9:30)

Our identity is found in Christ, not in any mental illness a person may have!

Our Understanding is Secondary (11:00)

It’s okay to not understand it all. Thankfully, our understanding will always be secondary to the goodness of God! Sarah often times gets emails from people asking the big questions on why this is happening to her and how to make sense of it. She does not have all the answers either, but one thing Sarah does know is that her end point is complete healing.

Communication is Key (12:00)

We’re made to communicate, this is God’s heart!

Seen and Unseen (12:45)

Contending with battles seen and unseen is so important. Carrie elaborates on her thoughts with this.

Reaching Out (13:30)

Carrie poses a question asking for Sarah’s advice on what she would do if she were to see a new person sitting in the back of a church and how to best serve that person. Sarah mentions inviting someone to be in a small group can make a huge difference.

Servant Leadership (16:00)

Carrie shares her thoughts on how important the role of being a door holder or volunteer in the church is. Shout out to all the volunteers at church, thank you for your service!

A Love for Music (18:00)

When Sarah lived in Thailand, her dad would participate in massive crusades. In the times Sarah tagged along, she would get up on stage and sing "Jesus loves me" with the crowd. This is where her love for music started. Music is what also got her through difficult times while being abused at home.

Believing (19:00)

It wasn't until College Sarah believed singing was something she could pursue outside of church events. After several important conversations with people in her life, something sparked inside which led her to give music recording a shot. Since then, Sarah has recorded three albums and continues to pursue music recording as part of her vocation.

Purpose in Everything (22:00)

God can use us right where we’re at in the midst of any trial, fault, and sin. His grace is always there no matter what so be encouraged, friend! The farther your life has swung into pain, trial and heartbreak, the further it’s possible to swing the other direction into life, joy, peace and purpose. There can be a shift in your life, you’re not stuck!

The Heart Behind Singing (24:00)

Sarah has drawn from all of her life experience when it comes to writing songs and music. One gal in particular who was at her show years ago, reached out and mentioned how listening to her music helped save her life!

Power in the Testimony (25:15)

One way the Holy spirit can work in and through us is by sharing our testimony!

Opportunity to Know God (26:20)

Even in the hardest moments and struggles, we have an opportunity to know God in a new way. The power of our story can encourage others that they aren't alone. Though we have trials and hardships in life, rest assured that we get the honor of knowing Jesus and can still love and trust Him no matter what. He is faithful!

Hope (27:20)

No matter who you are or where you're at in life, God offers Hope. If we choose to cling to Him, our life is going to abound with more joy, love, and the ability to appreciate God’s grace more and more.

Jul 1, 2019

Caren Lee is a teacher, lacrosse coach, and lover of Jesus Christ. Today she joins the show to talk about the Father's love. Listeners on the show today will be encouraged to dig deeper into God's love for people all around.

Introduction to Caren Lee (2:20)

Caren is currently an 8th grade science teacher and passionate about helping people take authority over their minds and to know the Father’s heart for themselves and others. On a daily basis she seeks out the presence of God and does her best to listen to the Holy Spirit every step of the day. What a beautiful lifestyle she lives!

A Spiritual Journey (3:40)

Growing up in a home of divorce, challenges, and anxiety, Caren took on quite a bit at a young age. When she was 18 years, found herself at a Young Life camp where the gospel was shared and it floored her inner being. It was in that time she surrendered her entire life to the Lord. During college years, Caren struggled with depression but was radically healed after an evening of prayer with a group of people she was very close with.

The Heart of God (6:30)

When Caren was set free from depression, she learned the power of the holy spirit in such a tangible way! Through a series of events she desired to walk in step with the Holy Spirit everywhere she went and in that process she learned when it came to the Father's heart, no one needs to strive, rather we need to belong.

A Butterfly (7:30)

Caren shares a simple yet profound story on how God spoke to her through a butterfly she found in the sand. God was breaking her out of the darkness and bringing new life while using something as simple as a butterfly. How has God been speaking to you lately?

Heart Posture (9:30)

God doesn't want us just to help perform signs, wonders and miracles, He wants our heart completely devoted to Him!

Rest and Revelation (10:00)

After 5 school snow days this past winter, Caren had more down time than she expected in one week. Through this time of rest she received revelation from the Lord about creating, resting, and trying new things. Caren was reminded of how important it is to create and not limit the way we spend quality time with God.

Called to Create (12:00)

God is calling us to be creative and to trust Him with all the details of our lives. Creativity takes on so many different forms, may we never limit what that could look like.

Take Risks (13:45)

It’s so important to take risks in creating. Try something different, step into a new place of freedom! We encourage you to take an uncomfortable risk and see how God shows up in the process.

Friendship with God (15:00)

Carrie poses a question asking Caren to elaborate on a difficult dynamic she has personally gone through in her life that may resonate with other listeners. Rejection has been a result of many challenging experiences in Caren’s life from people she thought would never betray, leave, or treat her in a certain way. In this process of experiencing rejection multiple times, she learned over time what it meant to have friendship with God and how He would never leave or forsake her.

Resting in Grace (17:00)

Caren shares that she used to put intense pressure on herself to try and do everything right so that she could change a person or a situation. Lately, Caren has been undoing that belief system while learning how to receive that no one’s worth is found in what he or she can do but real worth is found in the Father’s love for us. Check out 2nd Corinthians 12:9 to read the verse connected to this insight.

Strength in Him (19:00)

Every time we try to do things in our own strength it’s not going to work out as well as it could have with inviting God into it all.

Psalm 45:10 (19:45)

If we look into the Father's eyes, we know that we don't have to strive anymore. Check out Psalm 45:10 to read the verse Caren referred to.

Authority Over the Mind (20:50)

The battle of the mind is a real thing! Through a season of disappointment, God gave Caren tools to take captive her thoughts. The power of Jesus Christ is incredible, may we receive that power through the way we think too.

Free (22:30)

We need to declare that every thought must bow down to the authority of Jesus in our life! When we fully repent from our thoughts we can be free from them.

Delight Ministry (23:30)

A big goal of this ministry was to empower women in going deeper with vulnerability in community, and to know the victory is found in Jesus Christ.

Holland Michigan Happenings (25:15)

Much of the church community in Holland Michigan seems to be focusing on house church development and discipleship. Though house church development may look different in other areas, the communities in Holland are interested in living a lifestyle of missions, doing life together, and laying their lives down for one another.

Be Encouraged (28:00)

Caren encourages listeners who are battling with a decision on what to do next or to take a risk wanting to do something different, to ask yourself, “are you seeking answers from God or seeking His face?” As we seek God’s face with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength, God will give you the answers you need. So go, be in his presence and ask God for the belief to know seeking His face is of most importance!
