Emily Massey began writing short stories and poetry as a little girl, entered the blogging world in her early 20’s, and published her first book, Yielded in His Hands (eLectio Publishing) in 2015. After tirelessly trying to pursue a career as an actress, God intervened, changed her heart, and redirected her steps back to her passion for writing. She now enjoys freelance writing, while being a stay-at-home momma. She and her husband have served in many areas of ministry leadership over the years, including worship ministry, prayer ministry, drama ministry, children’s ministry, and student ministry. She loves to encourage others in their walk of faith through her writing ministry, as well as through leading women's Bible studies. Believing she has been forgiven of much, Emily loves much, and desires to point others to Jesus and His redemptive and transforming power!

Testimony (2:42)

Emily shares how her testimony has been a work in progress. As a child she knew of God but didn't have a personal relationship with him. During high school she attended a youth conference which was the first time she ever heard the gospel message. As her heart began racing she knew she needed to respond and found herself running up to the altar. Emily says she struggled with perfectionism her whole life which shaped her wrong view of God. She wasn't discipled and eventually the shame and guilt of promiscuity kept her from relationship with the Lord. Then one day after college graduation she and her mom decided to visit a church when she felt God welcoming her back home; changing the trajectory of her life.

Washed Clean (16:10)

Emily shares how if you feel unclean by current or past sin it's actually a good thing because that means Holy Spirit is bringing conviction. At that moment you have the opportunity to turn it over to God or stay trapped. That's why the Bible is so important, to remind ourselves of who we are in God.

Boldness In Christ (22:27)

Boldness is a work of God. We are called to be vessels for his glory. When we are yielded to him we can incline our ear to Holy Spirit. The results of stepping out and sharing about God is only a work of the Lord. It's not up to us what the result of stepping out in faith is.

A Year of Restoration (28:07)

Emily talks about her perspective of God was initially shaped by her broken relationship with her dad who struggled with alcoholism and sexual sin. Since she didn't have a strong relationship with him she sort of watched from the sidelines. Her father eventually got in with the wrong crowd and was shot, his body dragged across an abandoned building which was eventually set on fire. The only reason he was identified was because of metal plates he had in his body from a previous drunk driving accident. She had a choice to either stand on the rock of Jesus or let it ruin her. Thankfully she had people in her life who could help walk her through it. Since then she's seen beautiful restoration with her father's family.

Yielded In His Hands (38:34)

In Emily's book, Yielded In His Hands, she talks in great details about anxiety, fear and postpartum depression and getting to the root cause of some strange health symptoms.

On this episode of She Walks In Truth Carrie shares what the Lord showed her during a recent health scare that left her wondering if she'd ever podcast again. Hear how even in the midst of the trial the Lord showed her that death and life are in the tongue as Proverbs 18:21 tells us. There is no middle ground.

What words are you coming into agreement with. The promises of God or the lies of the enemy?

Listen and share this episode with someone who is in the midst of trial or tribulation who could also use some encouragement. And "May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word." 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
